Back to Tangerang & Chicken with Spicy Kecap Manis

Karena abu vulkanik Merapi, yang kukhawatirkan akan mengganggu kesehatan Bebi Vendra, aku terpaksa kembali ke Tangerang lebih cepat daripada rencana. Sedih, tentu saja. Tapi aku akan lebih sedih lagi jika kesehatan Bebi Vendra terganggu.

For the Merapi’s volcanic ash, which I concerned would interfere Bebi Vendra’s health, we decided to go back home to Tangerang earlier than our plan. Upset, of course. But I would be more upset if Bebi Vendra gets sick.

Kemarin, aku masak Taoge Kacang Panjang Tumis dan Ayam Kecap Pedas.

Yesterday, I cooked Mung Bean Sprouts & Long Bean Stir Fry and Chicken with Hot Kecap Manis.

Bahan-bahan ayam kecap pedas:
setengah ekor ayam, bagi menjadi 6 porsi, rebus dalam segelas air hingga empuk, ambil daging dan 2 sendok makan kaldunya, bekukan sisa kaldunya
2 butir bawang putih, cincang kasar
4 butir bawang merah, cincang kasar
2 buah cabe merah, iris
2 sendok makan minyak goreng
sejumput garam
sejumput lada putih halus
sejumput gula pasir
1 sendok makan kecap manis

Cara membuatnya:
1. Panaskan minyak goreng dengan api sedang.
2. Tumis bawang putih, bawang merah dan cabe merah hingga harum.
3. Tambahkan ayam. Diamkan 1-2 menit.
4. Tambahkan garam, lada putih bubuk dan gula pasir. Aduk rata.
5. Tambahkan kaldu ayam dan kecap manis. Aduk rata. Tunggu 1 menit. Angkat. Sajikan.

The ingredients of chicken with hot kecap manis:
a half chicken, divide into 6 portions, boiled in a cup of water until tender, strain – take 2 table spoons of the stock, freeze the rest
2 pieces garlic, chopped
4 pieces shallot, chopped
2 pieces red chili pepper, chopped
2 table spoons oil
a pinch of salt
a pinch of white pepper powder
a pinch of sugar
a table spoon kecap manis
(Indonesian sweet soy sauce)

The directions:
1. Medium-low heat oil.
2. Sauté garlic, shallot and red chili pepper until the aroma comes out.
3. Add chicken. Wait for a minute or two.
4. Add salt, white pepper powder and sugar. Stir well.
5. Add chicken stock and kecap manis. Stir well. Wait for a minute. Remove. Serve.

Kami memang baru mulai membiasakan diri makan nasi merah. Sejujurnya, aku sendiri memang tak suka nasi putih dan lebih suka nasi merah atau kentang atau roti. Makan banyak nasi putih hanya akan membuatku merasa berdosa, karena tubuhku tak memerlukan gula sebanyak itu. Tapi karena suamiku tercinta adalah pemilik perut Jawa sejati, maka aku mencampur beras putih dan beras merah saat memasak nasi.

Eating brown rice is a newly habit for our family. To be honest, I don’t like white rice and prefer brown rice or potato or bread. Eating a lot of white rice would just make me feeling guilty, because I don’t think my body needs that much sugar. But since my beloved hubby owns a real Javanese stomach-which considers eating steamed white rice is an absolute obligation-so I mix white rice and brown rice when preparing it.
