A Huge Bag of Corn

Salah seorang tetangga kami mengirimkan sekantung besar jagung dari kebunnya. Karena itu, beberapa hari ini, kami menikmati berbagai sajian dari jagung. Mulai dari jagung rebus, jagung kukus keju, bakwan jagung, sampai sup krim jagung.

One of our kind neighbours gave us a huge bag of corn from her field. That’s why, these few days, we enjoyed dishes of corn. From boiled corn, steamed corn with cheese, bakwan jagung (a sort of Indonesian corn nugget), also cream soup of corn.

Bakwan Jagung
Cocok untuk dimakan bersama nasi, atau sekedar kudapan di sore hari. Jangan lupa saus tomat atau saus sambal atau saus asam pedas.

Bahan-bahannya:
1 buah jagung, pipil
4 sendok makan tepung terigu
sejumput garam
sejumput lada putih bubuk
sejumput gula pasir
30 mililiter air dingin
200 mililiter minyak goreng

Cara membuatnya:
1. Campurkan tepung terigu, garam, lada putih bubuk dan gula pasir.
2. Tambahkan air dingin. Aduk rata.
3. Tambahkan jagung. Aduk rata.
4. Panaskan minyak goreng dengan api sedang.
5. Ambil adonan sebanyak satu sendok makan. Goreng hingga berwarna keemasan.
6. Angkat. Tiriskan. Sajikan.

Bakwan Jagung
A sort of Indonesian traditional corn nugget. Usually enjoyed with freshly steamed white rice, either thoroughly. Don’t forget tomato ketchup, chili sauce or hot and sour sauce.

The ingredients:
a piece of corn, kerneled
4 table spoons wheat flour
a pinch of salt
a pinch of white pepper powder
a pinch of sugar
30 milliliters cold water
200 milliliters oil

The directions:
1. Mix wheat flour, salt, white pepper powder and sugar.
2. Add cold water. Stir well.
3. Add corn. Mix well.
4. Medium-low heat oil.
5. Take a table-spoonful flour-corn mix. Deep fry until they turn golden coloured.
6. Remove. Strain. Serve.

Sup Krim Jagung

Bahan-bahannya:
1 buah jagung, pipil
2 sendok tepung terigu
sejumput garam
sejumput lada putih bubuk
sejumput gula pasir
30 mililiter susu tawar
1 gelas air
1 lembar roti tawar, potong dadu 1 sentimeter, sangrai hingga garing

Cara membuatnya:
1. Didihkan air.
2. Tambahkan jagung.
3. Campurkan tepung terigu, garam, lada putih bubuk, gula pasir dan susu tawar hingga rata.
4. Tambahkan ke rebusan jagung.
5. Aduk rata selama satu menit. Angkat. Sajikan dengan taburan roti garing.

Cream Soup of Corn

The ingredients:
a piece of corn, kerneled
2 table spoons wheat flour
a pinch of salt
a pinch of white pepper powder
a pinch of sugar
30 milliliters plain milk
a cup of water
a slice of white bread, cut into dices 1 centimeter then pan grilled without oil until crispy

The directions:
1. Boil water.
2. Add corn.
3. Mix well wheat flour, salt, white pepper powder, sugar and plain milk.
4. Add the mix into the boiling corn.
5. Stir well for a minute. Remove. Serve with sprinkles of crispy white bread dices.
