Sayur Asem

Potong dadu setengah buah labu siam.

Haluskan 3 siung bawang putih, 3 buah bawang merah dan 3 buah cabe merah. Panaskan 1 sendok makan minyak, lalu tumis bumbu halus bersama 2 lembar daun salam, sedikit garam dan lada hitam hingga harum. Tambahkan 2 gelas air dan 2 buah asam jawa.

Setelah mendidih, masukkan segenggam kacang tanah, potongan jagung, potongan labu siam, segenggam melinjo, potongan kacang panjang, dan segenggam daun melinjo. Didihkan lagi, lalu tunggu sekitar 2 menit. Angkat lalu sajikan.

Welcome to My World!

This weekend, we wanted something special at home. So I cooked sayur asem (Indonesian sour and spicy clear soup with vegetables), fried tempeh, and my beloved hubby fried some ikan asin and made sambel terasi.

Divide 1 piece sweet corn and 4 pieces long bean into 2 centimeters cut each. Cut a half piece chayote into cubes.

Crush 3 pieces garlic, 3 pieces shallot and 3 pieces red chili pepper. Low heat 1 table spoon oil, then sauté the crushed spices with 2 pieces bay leaves also a pinch of salt and pepper until the aroma comes out (or until you want to cough or sneeze). Pour 2 cups water and add 2 pieces fresh tamarind.

After it boils, add a handful peanut, corn cuts, chayote cuts, a handful melinjo, long bean cuts, and a handful melinjo leaves. Let it boils again, wait for about 2 minutes, then take it out of the heat. Serve with freshly steamed white rice, fried tempeh, fried ikan asin and sambel terasi.
