Sup Brenebon

Masakan yang satu ini adalah favorit keluarga besarku. Biasanya, kalau ada momen spesial, Oma akan membuat sepanci besar sup brenebun dengan banyak daging babi, juga tulangnya. Nggak mungkin nggak nambah deh makannya!

Di sekitar tempat tinggalku sekarang, daging babi rada sulit didapat. Jadi, aku terpaksa pakai daging sapi.

Rebus 100 gram kacang merah kering yang sudah direndam semalaman sampai empuk dan airnya berwarna merah. Rebus juga 250 gram daging sapi sampai empuk. Campurkan keduanya, tambahkan 2 siung bawang putih yang sudah digeprek, sedikit garam dan merica. Sebelum diangkat, masukkan potongan bawang daun dan seledri. Sajikan dengan taburan bawang goreng.

My beloved grandma always cooks this favorite soup for our family’s special moments. A big pot of yummy and soft red kidney bean with a lot of pork meat and some of the bones. It makes us eat some more and more!

Unfotunately, it’s really hard to find pork, here in our home. So today, I use beef.

Boil 100 grams of dried red kidney bean, which has been soaked for one night in 3 cups of water, until it soften and the water turns red. Braise 250 grams of cut beef until tender. Mix the red kidney and the beef together. Add 2 pieces of crushed garlic, a pinch of salt and pepper. Before taking it out, add chopped celery and spring onion. Serve with sprinkle of fried shallot.
